Mike graduated from Brown Institute in 1998 with a degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting. His first job in radio was at KFIL FM/AM in Preston, Minnesota. Besides having morning show duties, Mike was the analyst for all of the high school sports that KFIL covered.
After moving back to St. Paul, where he was born and raised, Mike started volunteering at WFNU-LP 94.1FM in August of 2015. In October of 2015 the very first episode of "High School Sports Talk" aired. At first, Central and Como Park were the two schools that were covered. Soon after Highland Park was added. In 2016, St. Agnes was added to the "High School Sports Talk" family.
Still seeing a void in coverage, Mike launched 651sports.com in February of 2017 and expanded coverage to all of the St. Paul Public Schools on the radio and on the web. Our goal is to offer play-by-play and coverage of St. Paul high school sports that has never been heard or seen before.
